After 6 years of action, innovation, and collaboration, the end of 2026 will mark the conclusion of the LIFE RIPARIAS project. And what better way to celebrate this successful journey than with an international event bringing together partners, practitioners, and experts?

On the 8th of September 2026, LIFE RIPARIAS will host a one-day international conference in Brussels on the theme “Biological Invasions: From Data to Management.” This event will showcase the project’s main achievements, share lessons learned, and explore how science-based data can drive a more effective management of invasive alien species.

The programme will feature around a dozen talks from Belgian and international experts in the field of biological invasions.

Best of all, our final event will take place within the framework of NEOBIOTA 2026—a major international conference on biological invasions that brings together researchers, managers, and policymakers from around the world.

In 2024, over 150 participants joined us for the LIFE RIPARIAS Mid-Term International Conference themed “Innovative Tools and Approaches for the Management of Biological Invasions.” The event marked the halfway point of the project and successfully promoted the LIFE RIPARIAS project and workflow on an international scale.

We were proud to welcome EU-wide stakeholders — including managers, institutional representatives, decision-makers, nature conservation associations, and scientists — for a day of learning and exchange.

With 8 renowned international and national speakers, the conference offered deep insights on topics such as eDNA techniques, data-driven decision-making, and ecosystem resilience. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore innovative strategies for managing invasive alien species and connect with experts in the field.
