Riparian plant species
This group includes 5 large-sized plant species. These vigorous plants often grow in dense stands and are able to rapidly spread along river systems. They alter soil composition, favour soil erosion and reduce the density and diversity of native vegetation. One of them, the giant hogweed, can also induce serious dermatological effects in case of skin contact while strongly reducing accessibility to ponds and riverbanks.
