LIFE RIPARIAS outside and inside Belgian borders
This year again, LIFE RIPARIAS was represented by our partners at different international events, including the LIFE projects meeting “Exchanging Experiences on INVASIVE ALIEN SPECIES Projects in Europe' in Malaga (Spain) which took place from the 25th to the 26th of May 2023. There, 18 EU LIFE projects and other European organisations such as Universities could exchange and discuss effective strategies and measures to manage and prevent the spread of IAS. LIFE RIPARIAS also participated in The International Conference on Ecology and Vegetal Community (EcoVeg 16) in Marseille (France) from the 5th to the 7th of April 2023, where our research on the impact of management actions on ecosystem services were presented. Our team was also present in Paris with UICN FRANCE and the Office Français de la Biodiversité where we presented our innovative IT tools. Although we are actively engaged in international events, we certainly did not miss events taking place in the project’s native range, Belgium. LIFE RIPARIAS was therefore present at the Biodiversity Spring Market in Brussels to talk about biodiversity monitoring and how recording species observations in the field is important to better protect our natural world.
Further participations in events and conferences are still planned for this year, including the International symposium on aquatic plants in Antwerp taking place from the 13th of November to the 17th of November 2023.
