The LIFE RIPARIAS project has received funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
The LIFE programme, running since 1992, is the EU’s financial instrument providing support to environmental, biodiversity conservation and climate action projects. Between 2014 and 2020, LIFE has contributed to approximately €3.4 billion to the conservation of the environment and co-financed more than 4 300 projects since its foundation. The European Commission has proposed to raise the budget of the LIFE programme to €5.4 billion from 2021 to 2027.
Those major investments are critical to protect and stop the loss of Europe’s biodiversity and ecosystems.
The 2021-2027 new LIFE programme cover the following areas:
- Nature and biodiversity
- Circular economy and quality of life
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Clean energy transition
